In today’s lockdown situation, we make food as our companion due to stress of anxiety, isolation, getting bored at home. It led to binge-watching tv shows and in turn cause over-eating. I made few changes in my family mealtime schedule and try to play tricks to avoid eating like anything and any time. So, I thought of sharing with you all my blog readers.

1)SEPARATE ZONE OF MEAL AND WORKING AREA-

If you are working from home, never eat your meals in front of computer screen doing office work altogether. It would end in a mindless eating.

Take an oath not to have dinners while enjoying Netflix, and it help us to pay more attention what and how much your tummy requirement of eating and enjoying delicious food.

 It also aids in chewing food slowly, otherwise we just engulf big bites of chapatis.

2)Choose small plates: –

It is main key to opt for good portion control and to avoid overeating.

  • Go for small plates if we want to eat samosas, burger, aloo tiki etc. 
  • Use big plates for salads, fruits.

  • Similarly pick small glasses for aerated, sugary drinks an
  •  Grab big glasses for shikanji, buttermilk, lemonades, green tea, smoothies, juices.

3)Drink water before 15 minutes of main meal –

It helps to make you fill and also speed up digestion and also aids in to stay fit and energetic and it is one of best healthy habit if you follow in regular schedule. It is also required to stay hydrated in this unpredictable weather.

Never confuse with feeling of thirst with hunger cravings, otherwise it may open the door of kitchen or refrigerator.

4)Go for mindful eating: –

The current pandemic scene is uncertain which effect mental health of people and they do mind less eating out of boredom and stressful life. Its high alarming sign to pull up your socks and pay attention to our body as well. We should train our mind to eat only to calm our hunger and not of our greed, boredom.

  • Eat fibre -rich foods such as beans, pulses and nuts are good option to satisfy our appetite quickly. 

5)Keep food diary intact: –

Maintain habit of pen down all food items we eat and also mention its quantity and also observe what make us to eat more frequently like time pass, sweet cravings etc.

  • Do not buy and store unhealthy packaged food, 
  • Instead use peanuts, Chana, dry-fruits as mid -snack options andkeep fruits and salad sticks ready in refrigerator.

6)Make good sleep and exercise best friends: –

Take 7-8 hours of sound sleep to make you feel fresh and charged in whole day with its best friend being physically active is also must in running time.

Go for walk, take a break from continue sitting position, doing stretches in between, or doing yoga, meditation, relaxation or any form of physical activity keeps you away from stress level and make you calm with positive thoughts in your mind.

7)Give time to cook proper meals and can add dancing (exercise) as if cherry over cake topping.

My goal is to provide some tricky ideas to make us more productive, smart, active with ear to ear smiley faces.

In this time zone half of the population is working from home, it has its own benefits or perks but weight gain should not be among one of them.

Stop trying to fill the emptiness

Don’t make this lockdown as an excuse of excess weight. It is best time to shed out extra body baggage and to reach a healthy and fit level.
